About  Hardy

He served as your Town Councilman since 2005 and was re-elected in 2009.  In 2011 he was elected as Irmo's Mayor.  He is a hands-on, get-involved type person, who would much rather be in the thick of things making sure the right decisions are being made, instead of "hoping" that someone else is doing the right thing.  He will work hard for you as Irmo's Mayor, just as he has proven himself as your Town Councilman for six years.  One principle that drives him says, "evil prospers when good men do nothing".  I believe Christian men and women should be involved in all levels of government.

He was born in Elon College, NC and raised in Burlington. He is married to Eileen from Dryden, NY and they have two children, Adam and Kristiana, both born here. They live in Old Friarsgate at 501 Doncaster Drive, and attend Three Rivers Baptist Church in Irmo.  Like most of us in Irmo, we're not originally from here, but love this town we call home.

In 2005 - The Irmo News nicknamed Hardy King “the Town Watchdog”. Today in 2012 – He is still watching your backs in Town Hall.  Watchdog - one who serves as a guardian, protector, defender against inefficiency, waste, loss, illegal practices, frivolous spending, backroom discussions, unethical behavior, good ole boy politics, etc.

"I am a Christian man, it is a calling just like every other Christian walk,  and I will strive to do the right thing for you, as a resident or a business owner, and for the whole of Irmo, as your Mayor".

COUNCILMAN GRADUATES
Councilmember Hardison King of Irmo graduated from the Municipal Elected  Officials Institute of Government on July 13,  2007. The Institute gives municipal officials a strong foundation in the operation of local  government.  Participants learn about the role of elected officials and administrative staff and the relationships municipal officials have with other local governments, the state and federal government.  The institute includes two day long sessions and three evening satellite broadcasts which took two years to complete. Highlights of topics covered during the sessions include the Freedom of Information  Act, team building,  budgeting, planning and zoning, human resources and economic development.  The Municipal Association plans and presents the Institute in cooperation with the University of S.C. Institute of Public Service and Policy Research and Clemson University's Strom Thurmond Institute.
