MAY WE INTRODUCE YOU TO COUNCILMAN HARDY KING?
I
was born in Elon College, NC and raised in Burlington. I first moved to Irmo in 1990 on Boulters Lock Road. I am
married to Eileen from Dryden, NY. We have 2 children, Adam and Kristiana, both born here. We reside
in Old Friarsgate at 501 Doncaster Drive. We are members of Three Rivers Baptist Church in Irmo. We own and operate
Kings' Furniture Revival at 96 Ashbourne Road in Irmo. Like most of you in Irmo, we are not originally from here, but
hope this will always be our home.

WHAT EXPERIENCE
DOES HE BRING TO THE TABLE?
I am a Graduate of
the Municipal Elected Officials Institute of Government, July 2007. The Institute gives municipal
officials a strong foundation in the operation of local government. Participants learn about the role of
elected officials and administrative staff and the relationships municipal officials have with other local governments, the
state and federal government. The institute includes two day long sessions and three evening satellite broadcasts which took
two years to complete. Highlights of topics covered during the sessions include the Freedom of Information Act, team
building, budgeting, planning and zoning, human resources and economic development. The Municipal Association
plans and presents the Institute in cooperation with the University of S.C. Institute of Public Service and Policy Research
and Clemson University's Strom Thurmond Institute. I have been present at every Town Council Meeting since
being elected in September 2005. I will continue, GOD willing and health permitting, to be at every Council meeting
and serving and working for you the next 4 years! I am a self-employed business owner, which I started in October
1996 with no money, working out of my garage. We have grown the business through hard work and wise decision-making
and moved our business, Kings' Furniture Revival, to our present location near the Irmo Post Office in August 2001. I served
on the Irmo Zoning Board of Appeals, before being elected to Irmo Town Council in 2005. I have served as deacon, elder, Sunday
school teacher, and Men's Ministry director. I served as a Board member of the Harbison Area Wheels Transit
for 3 years. A ministry transporting elderly and disabled persons in the community. I served at the Baptist Medical
Center with the Personal Touch Program on the Oncology floor for 2 years. A volunteer patient visitation program.
I served with the United Way Agency on the Allocation of Funds Panel for 3 years.
WHY DOES HE SERVE?
I
am a hands-on, get-involved-type person, who would much rather be in the thick of things making sure the right decisions are
being made, instead of "hoping" that someone else is doing the right thing. One principle that drives
me says, "evil prospers when good men do nothing". I believe Christian men and women should be involved in
all levels of government. I am a Christian man, it is a calling just like every other Christian walk, and I will
strive to do the right thing for you as a resident or business owner, and for the whole of Irmo.
